Functioning of various wings of DIET Kurukshetra:-

District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kurukshetra, like other DIETs in India, functions as a key institution for the improvement of elementary and secondary education. It supports pre-service and in-service teacher education, curriculum development, educational research, and innovation at the district level.

DIET Kurukshetra operates through multiple specialized branches or “wings,” each focusing on a specific aspect of teacher education and school improvement. 

Work Experience (WE) Wing

The Work Experience (WE) Wing of DIET Kurukshetra focuses on imparting vocational and craft-based education to students and trainee teachers. This wing aims to build practical skills, foster creativity, and instill respect for manual work, thereby contributing to the holistic development of learners.

Key functions of the WE Wing include:

TLM & Infrastructure:

  • To maintain a TLM lab/art & craft room/workshop.
  • Maintenance of institute building, water & electrical fittings, upkeep & development of the institute campus, roads, playgrounds, lawns, gardens, etc. with the help of PSTE department.
  • Maintenance of furniture & other properties of the institute and to keep proper record of this.

Training & In-Service Programs:

  • To conduct in-service programmes for teachers in the areas of W.E. In the light of NEP 2020 teachers of Primary schools are to be trained to carry out various work experience related activities and teachers of upper primary classes are to be trained to carry out pre-vocational activities by integrating these in their teaching subjects.
  • Faculty members of WE dept will provide WE related inputs during mentoring visits of schools.

Skill Development & Monitoring:

  • Monitoring of skill courses under NSQF in secondary schools. There is no provision of monitoring of these courses in schools till date.
  • To help the educational authorities, schools and AIE centres in the introduction of work experience activities in their respective schools/AIE centres.

Program Support & Integration:

  • To provide W.E. related inputs into all other programmes of the institute, e.g. pre-service and in-service programmes for teachers and instructors, Field Interaction (Including extension) activities, action research, etc.
  • To identify locally relevant W.E. areas and material, and in cooperation with concerned nodal branches, to develop low cost teaching aids/TLM.

Hobbies & Environment:

  • To promote work related hobbies among trainers of the institute.
  • Tree plantation in the institute (celebration of Van Mahotsava with the help of PSTE department) and maintenance of such plantations.
